Caesars Windsor consists of two hotel towers, with a casino in the middle.  NAYCC is being held in the Augustus Ballroom, which is on the 2nd floor of the Augustus Tower, the west tower. Enter the Augustus Tower, take the elevator or escalator to the hotel lobby, and then take a very long escalator to the Ballroom.

There is free parking in a multi-story car park "behind" the casino (on the south side). 

From the parking garage, make your way down to street level via the stairs or elevator, and walk left (west) along Chatham Street to the first corner, which is McDougall Avenue. 

The Valet Parking of Augustus Tower is also free as well but can be quite busy from time to time.

Check-In Time

Check-in Time The check-in time is 9:00am to 12:30pm. If you cannot make the 12:30PM deadline due to unforeseen reason, please email info@windsorchess.org otherwise you may not be paired for the 1st round.

Rating Cut-off Date

The August 6th published rating will be used.

COMPUTER TIE BREAKS

1) the games between the tied players (applies only if all tied players have played each other)

2) Sonneborn-Berger

3) the greater number of games with Black (unplayed games count as played with white)

4) the greater number of wins

5) the younger birthdate

6) coin flip (administered by Chief Arbiter) RATINGS USED All ratings as of August 6th (or as soon as possible thereafter). If a player has a FIDE Standard rating, then that will be used. All other players will be ranked as of their own country's rating.

Appeal Committee

The appeals committee members will be announced before the first round. Appeals must be submitted, in a written form, to the Chairman of the Appeals Committee within 1 hour after the round finishes. The appeal must be accompanied with the sum of $100USD. If the appeal succeeds, the sum will be returned to the player who appeal.

Opening Ceremony
Opening Ceremony will start at 2:30pm. 

Forfeit Time
Any player that arrives at the board 30 or more minutes late will be forfeited.

Cell Phone Check-In desk
Cell phones are not allowed in the playing halls and are required to be left with the Cell Phone Check-In Desk.

Membership
A valid CFC membership for Canadian player and FQE membership for Quebec players

Drink and Snack

No eating food is allowed on the chess board during the game. You can bring in a light snack and eat it on the side of playing hall or on the hallway in between playing hall and washroom room.  A bottle drink with cap is allowed. Water will be provided by hotel.

Procedure of reporting results

When a game is done, players raise their hands, a section scorekeeper will come to the table.  Players agree and sign their scoresheets. Players keep the yellow copy of scoresheets and the white copy will be collected by the organizer.

Information Desk
An information desk will be setup in the parents’ waiting room on the first day of NAYCC to help parents with all sorts of questions including restaurants around the downtown, tours information and etc…

Group Photo
Starting from round 2, there will be group photos. One group section will be called per each round. Players are required to arrive 15 minutes before the game starts. First group pictures are U08 Open and U08 Girls before Round 2.

The swimming pool and health club at Caesars Windsor Hotel cannot be accessed by our young players.  The NAYCC committee has worked with the City of Windsor to offer a special rate for our players and their families to enjoy Adventure Bay Family Water Park.  A discount coupon will be provided during NAYCC registration.  Take the coupon and the players’ badges to the Adventure Bay, where the front desk will gladly honour the discount rate for NAYCC players and their families.

Bughouse

Bughouse is scheduled on the last day of NAYCC.  It will start right after the closing ceremony.  Registration will be available at the parents’ waiting room after Round 1.

Blitz

Blitz tournament will take place Tuesday August 9 once NAYCC games are done.  Estimated start time will be 7:30 to 8 pm.  There will be a double game with a time control of 3 minutes with a 2 second increment per move.

Fun Event

Double giant chess bug house, drawing/colour contest, puzzle contest and lot of other fun activities on parents’ waiting room.
