We hope to have something arranged for next week. It is anticipated that we will find a venue for next Friday. I suspected that we might have a problem at the end of the month but it turned out that the booking could only be done until the end of classes which was last week. Anyone who wants a partial refund will get it if they cannot attend the makeup date at the end of the month (there should still be four Fridays of chess this month since we started on April 1st). Alternatively we will carry the credit forward into next month. I will inform you as soon as we have made definite arrangements for another room or venue. Thank you and I apologize for the inconvenience and short notice.

6:15 pm to 9:00 pm

Starting April 1st, 2016

The University of Windsor Chess Club and National Masters Vladimir Drkulec and Zoltan Kiraly are proud to announce the return of Friday night chess.  The format will be the same as Sobeys Friday night chess.  There will be a half hour lecture followed by a game followed by an analysis of the games played.  This format has proven the most successful way for young players to succeed and to improve at chess.  The lectures will typically feature explanations of the thinking process to apply to a chess game along with topics including tactics, strategy, pawn structures and many other ideas to help players improve.

The cost will be the same as Sobeys was.

$10 per class

$30 per month in months with 4 Fridays and

$35 per month in months with 5 Fridays.

Monthly charges are instead of the per class fee not in addition to.

We will sort the players according to rating and strength and have the top half play against the top half and bottom half play against the bottom half so that the games will be competitive.

First class will be Friday March 18th, 2016.  There will be a break on March 25th due to the Good Friday holiday.  We will be back on April 1st , 2016.

Walk ins are welcome but let us know you are coming so that we can have enough sets for everyone.
